What’s the story with limo packages?

As I read through the answers here and in other places I see most limos are priced hourly. What’s the deal with limousine rental packages? Is there a trick to it, some kind of “small print” that I should be aware of?

Yes, that is precisely it – buy one get one free sort of the deal. The reason why you’re getting such a good price is because the limo company gets to book their limo pretty much for a whole day (or night if that’s the night out you’re booking).

Essentially this means that
a) you are getting a better deal while booking a limo
b) limo company and their driver(s) are getting a full day’s work
c) there’s lower chance of you to keep calling to change the number of hours in your booking. Since the price of one hour of limo bus rental varies between $150 – 350, you can imagine changing the deal even for couple of hours might seem worth it
d) there is a little trick – if you go over the package’s allotted number of hours you will be billed at a slightly higher rate than usual. This, however, will only bring your final price above (hours times hourly rate) if you go way far above the allotment.

So, regardless of whether you believe in win-win situations or not, this is one of them – you win, limo company wins, everybody is happy.
